University of Iowa Indoor Practice Facility

Substance Architecture's 102,000-square-foot indoor practice facility gives the Hawkeyes a full-length football field under roof, lit through Danpal polycarbonate daylighting panels that run the clerestory above the sidelines. The translucent glazing spreads even, glare-free light across the turf and cuts daytime lighting loads, working with radiant heat under the field and natural ventilation toward the building's LEED Gold certification. It opened in 2012 as phase one of the Stew and LeNore Hansen Football Performance Center.
